⌚ RESTORATION OF A GEORGE MARGETTS MARINE CHRONOMETER ⚓

Step back into the fascinating world of 18th-century horology as Joe Orritt shares the trials, challenges and triumphs behind the service and restoration of a spectacular George Margetts Marine Chronometer, dating to the late 1790s.

Featuring an Arnold-signed dial, this remarkable timepiece presented a number of challenges — including the painstaking manufacture of a new spring detent.

Joe will also delve into his fascinating research into George Margetts (1748–1808), a relatively unknown watchmaker whose work and innovations would later inspire the legendary George Daniels.
